These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Meterline app and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
The service
Meterline is a software tool that helps drivers calculate fares, track trips, store rate profiles, view earnings, and — optionally — coordinate a fleet. Meterline provides software only; it does not provide transportation services and is not a taxi operator, broker, or payment processor.
Important: Meterline is not a certified taxi meter
Meterline is a fare-estimation and trip-tracking tool, not a sealed, government-calibrated "legal-for-trade" taximeter. It has not been certified or inspected by any weights-and-measures or transport authority.
In many jurisdictions, charging passengers a metered fare requires a certified, sealed meter. You are solely responsible for determining whether Meterline is permitted for your use and for complying with all taxi, transportation, licensing, tax, and metrology laws that apply to you. Fares, distances, and times produced by Meterline are estimates based on GPS and your configured rates and may contain inaccuracies. You are responsible for the rates you set and the fares you charge.
Your account
You must provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, and be responsible for activity under your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. You're responsible for the rate profiles, trips, and other content you create in the Service.
Subscriptions & billing
Meterline includes a free allowance of 20 completed rides per account. After that, continued metering requires a Meterline Pro subscription.
- Pricing: Meterline Pro is offered at $20 per year or $5 per month (or the equivalent in your local currency, as shown at purchase).
- Billing through Apple: subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple's terms. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Managing & cancelling: you can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the current period.
- Refunds: purchases are handled by Apple, and refund requests are subject to Apple's policies. We generally cannot issue refunds directly.
Acceptable use
You agree not to: break the law using the Service; misrepresent fares to passengers or authorities; interfere with or attempt to disrupt the Service; reverse-engineer, resell, or copy the Service except as allowed by law; or access another person's account or data without authorization. Fleet features must only be used with the genuine consent of the drivers involved.
Fleet features
If you create or join a fleet, you're responsible for using those features lawfully, including obtaining any consents required to view drivers' location and trip data. Drivers opt in to live location sharing and may withdraw it at any time. Fleet owners receive read-only visibility into participating drivers' shared data.
Your content & data
You retain ownership of the data you put into Meterline (your trips, rates, and profile). You grant us a limited license to store and process it solely to operate the Service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. You can delete your account and data at any time from within the app.
Intellectual property
The Meterline app, website, branding, and software are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms don't grant you any right to our trademarks or to copy or modify the Service except as permitted by law.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that fares, distances, times, or GPS data will be accurate or uninterrupted, or that the Service will be error-free. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Meterline and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. To the extent we are found liable, our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim (or, if you paid nothing, USD $0).
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Meterline and its operators harmless from claims, damages, and expenses arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law — including any dispute with a passenger or authority over fares you charge.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that could harm others or us. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers and limitations of liability) will survive.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Kentucky, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
